Terms, Privacy and Refunds

Last updated: 13 September 2026

Fridgey is run by one person, so this page is written in plain English. If a line is unclear, email me and I will explain it.

Terms of Service

Who runs Fridgey

Fridgey is built and operated by Shubh Lamba, a sole individual based in Delhi NCR, India. There is no company behind it. When this page says "I" or "me", that is who it means. "You" means the person using Fridgey.

By creating an account or using Fridgey, you agree to these terms.

What Fridgey does

You take a photo of your fridge. An AI vision model reads the ingredients it can see, then suggests three high-protein meals with estimated macros and a short shopping list of what you are missing. You can also enter a goal and some optional body stats, and Fridgey will calculate a rough daily protein and calorie target.

That is the whole product. No human reviews your results. Everything you see is generated by software.

Who can use Fridgey

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Fridgey calculates calorie targets and suggests eating patterns, and that is not something I am willing to put in front of a minor. If I find out an account belongs to someone under 18, I will delete it and refund any payment on it.

Your account

You can try one guest scan when daily availability permits. Sign in for the separate account scan allowance and account features. Sign-in is Google or an emailed magic link, so there is no password to lose. Guest limits are described in the Privacy Policy below.

One person, one account. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

Do not create extra accounts to farm free scans, automate or script requests, resell or share access, or try to break the app or reach other people's data. If you do, I can suspend or delete the account without a refund.

Plans and prices

Who you are actually buying from

This part matters, so read it once.

Payments run through Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record. Legally that means Lemon Squeezy is the seller of the subscription to you, and I am their supplier. When you pay, your contract for the purchase is with Lemon Squeezy and their Buyer Terms govern it. They handle the card, the tax, the receipt and the billing portal.

The terms on this page govern your use of Fridgey: your account, what the app does, what it does not promise, and how your data is handled.

One honest consequence: Lemon Squeezy can issue a refund at their own discretion even where my policy below says no. I do not control that and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

Your content

The photo is yours and you keep it. You give me only the permission needed to send that photo to the AI model and return meal suggestions to you. Nothing else. I do not keep the photo. See the Privacy Policy.

The meal text Fridgey generates is yours to use however you like.

Availability and changes

Fridgey is provided as it is. I am one person. There will be downtime, model errors, and days when the AI is worse than usual. I do not promise uptime and there is no service level agreement.

I may change or remove features. If I ever shut Fridgey down, I will give notice by email and cancel active subscriptions so nobody is charged again.

Ending it

You can cancel your subscription or delete your account at any time. See the next two sections.

I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or files a chargeback instead of contacting me.

Liability

Nothing here limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law where you live does not allow to be limited. That carve-out is real and it overrides everything after it.

Subject to that, and as far as the law that applies to you allows, my total liability to you for anything connected with Fridgey is limited to the amount you actually paid in the twelve months before the claim. I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Delhi have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer living in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that choice of law does not remove the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country, and you can still bring a claim in your local courts. The same goes for any other country whose consumer law says so.

Subscription and Cancellation

How billing works

You agree to the auto-renewal before your card is charged, on a tick box that is not ticked by default and that states the renewal price and how often it renews. It is the same box you use to waive the 14-day withdrawal right, quoted in full in the Refund Policy below, and you cannot reach checkout without ticking it. The renewal price and frequency are also written next to the pay button inside Fridgey, and again on the Lemon Squeezy checkout page before you enter a card.

How to cancel

Open Fridgey and tap Manage subscription. That opens the Lemon Squeezy billing page for your account, where you cancel yourself in a few taps.

What happens when you cancel

Price changes and failed payments

If I ever change the price, existing subscribers get an email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before it does. I will never quietly raise the price on a live subscription.

If a renewal payment fails, Lemon Squeezy retries it over the following days, and your access carries on while they retry, so one declined charge does not lock you out. Fridgey puts a notice on your home screen the moment the first charge fails, with the date your access runs to and a link to the billing page to update the card. If the retries keep failing, Lemon Squeezy ends the subscription and the account returns to the free state, and Fridgey then shows you how to start a new one.

Refund Policy

The short version

All sales are final. Fridgey does not give refunds.

That is the default, I apply it consistently, and it is not a negotiating position.

Why the policy is this strict

Every account gets 3 free scans before any payment is possible. That is the entire product, unlocked, on your own fridge, before you spend anything. Regenerating the meal list after you correct the detected items counts as one of those scans, and the button says so. There is no trial that silently converts, no card on file during the free scans, and nothing to forget to cancel. By the time you pay, you already know exactly what you are buying.

So there are no refunds for:

Cancel any time and you will not be charged again. That is the remedy, and it takes about ten seconds.

What this policy does not override

This policy cannot take away rights that the law where you live gives you and does not let you sign away. Where those rights apply, they win, and I will honour them without an argument.

1. Lemon Squeezy can refund you over my head. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and the legal seller. They reserve the right to issue a refund within 60 days of a purchase at their own discretion, usually to prevent a chargeback. If they do that, it happens whether or not I agree, and Fridgey access ends at that point.

2. If you live in the EU, the EEA or the UK: the 14-day right to cancel, unless you waive it. Consumer law gives you 14 days to cancel a distance purchase and get your money back. For a digital service that starts immediately, that right can be given up, but only if you actively choose to give it up. So Fridgey asks you to, in plain sight, and you are allowed to say no.

On the payment screen inside Fridgey, immediately before the Lemon Squeezy checkout opens, there is a separate box, not ticked by default, which reads:

I want access immediately and I understand this subscription renews automatically at $7.99 every month until I cancel, and that all sales are final once it starts. If I am in the EU or UK, I agree this begins now and I lose my 14 day right to cancel.

If you picked the monthly plan the box reads $7.99 every month instead. Everything else about it is the same.

You have to tick that box to continue. Fridgey records the wording you were shown and the date and time you ticked it, on your account and on the Lemon Squeezy order, before the checkout opens.

That is a real choice, not a trick. If you would rather keep the 14 days, do not subscribe on that screen. Email me and I will set it up manually with the right intact.

3. If Fridgey is broken, misdescribed, or not what it says it is. Separately from cancellation rights, UK and EU law give you a right to a repair, a price reduction, or your money back if a digital service is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described. That right cannot be signed away and this policy does not try to. If Fridgey was down or unusable for a meaningful part of a period you paid for, email me and I will fix it, extend the period, or refund it, whichever you prefer.

Where the line sits: a meal you dislike, or a macro estimate being an estimate, is not a fault. That is what the product is, and the Disclaimer below says so before you pay. The app not working is a fault.

4. Charges that were never authorised. A duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge on a card that is not yours is not a refund question. It is a mistake or fraud, and I will get it reversed. Email me and I will chase Lemon Squeezy the same day.

Before you call your bank

If you are about to dispute a charge with your bank, email me first at shubhhdoespy@gmail.com. I read that inbox every day and reply within one business day.

A chargeback costs me several times the value of your subscription and takes weeks to resolve. If you have a real problem, telling me is faster for you and cheaper for me, and I would rather solve it than fight it.

Disclaimer: AI and nutrition

Read this before relying on anything Fridgey tells you. These same warnings appear inside the app, next to the results, not only on this page.

Everything you see is generated by AI

Meal ideas, ingredient lists, macro numbers and calorie targets are produced by an AI model (Google Gemini) from one photo plus the preferences you entered. No human checks them. You are interacting with software, not a person.

Estimates, not measurements

Fridgey guesses what is in your fridge from a photo, then estimates macros from that guess. It misreads jars, misses items behind other items, confuses similar looking foods, and gets portion sizes wrong. The protein and calorie numbers are rough approximations and are sometimes badly wrong.

If a number matters to you, read the label on the actual food. Do not treat Fridgey's output as a measurement of anything.

Allergens: Fridgey cannot keep you safe

Fridgey cannot detect allergens, and must never be used to decide whether a food is safe for you.

The dietary filters you set (nut free, dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian, and so on) are best effort. Fridgey tries to avoid ingredients you excluded. It will sometimes fail, because the model can misread a label, miss an ingredient inside a packaged product, or simply not see it in the photo.

If you have a food allergy, coeliac disease or an intolerance, read the label on every item yourself, every time. The absence of a warning in Fridgey means nothing at all.

Your calorie and protein target

If you enter age, height, weight, sex and activity level, Fridgey calculates a target using a standard population formula (Mifflin St Jeor) with a fixed adjustment for your goal. It knows nothing about your health history, your bloodwork, your medication or your training. It is a rough starting number for a generally healthy adult, not a plan made for you.

Do not use Fridgey's targets, and speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian instead, if you are:

Not medical advice, not a medical device

Fridgey is a general wellness and lifestyle product. It exists to suggest meal ideas and estimate nutritional content for people who are generally healthy.

It is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor, predict, treat or relieve any disease or medical condition. It is not a medical device. It is not medical, dietetic or nutritional advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. Never delay or ignore professional advice because of something Fridgey said.

Food safety is your call

Fridgey cannot tell whether food is spoiled, out of date, stored properly or safe to cook. It only sees a photo. Use your eyes, your nose and the date on the packet.

Privacy Policy

I collect as little as the app can run on, and I do not sell any of it.

Who is responsible for your data

Shubh Lamba, a sole individual in Delhi NCR, India. Contact shubhhdoespy@gmail.com. I am also the Grievance Officer for Fridgey under Indian law, so data complaints come to that same address and I respond within 30 days.

What Fridgey collects

Feedback and support

If you use the feedback form, Netlify stores the message you choose to send and your email address if you provide one. A notification is sent to Shubh's Gmail inbox. I use this information to respond and improve Fridgey; it does not subscribe you to marketing. Messages remain in the form dashboard and support inbox until deleted. You can ask me to delete your message. Please do not include health details, passwords or payment information.

What Fridgey does not collect

Your fridge photos

Photos are never stored. The exact path is:

  1. The photo is resized in your browser.
  2. It is sent to a Fridgey server function.
  3. It is passed straight to Google's Gemini API, which reads the ingredients.
  4. It is discarded. It is never written to a database, a bucket or a disk.

Only the resulting text, the detected items and the meal suggestions, is saved to your account so your history works.

Fridgey uses the paid Gemini API tier. Under Google's paid tier terms your content is not used to train Google's models and is not read by human reviewers, apart from the limited abuse monitoring Google applies to all API traffic.

What is sent to Google with the photo: your goal, your dietary limits, your answer to the medication question, and the calorie and protein targets Fridgey calculated for you, so the meals fit them. Your age, sex, height and weight are never sent to Google. Those stay in my systems and are only used to compute the target.

Data about your health

Some of what Fridgey collects can say something about your health: body stats over time, allergy-shaped dietary limits, and the medication question. Under EU and UK law that is special category data, and under Indian law it is sensitive personal information. It is treated accordingly.

None of it is collected without a deliberate action from you, and none of it is on by default. There are three separate opt-ins, because they are three separate things:

You can withdraw any of it at any time inside the app, and each one has its own control under adjust my goals on the home screen: delete my body stats (or untick the box and save) for the stats and the medication answer, untapping a food and tapping Start for the dietary limits, and clear my daily log for the log. Each deletes those fields from your device and from your account row. You can also email me. Withdrawing does not undo processing that already happened, and it does not affect your subscription.

Why I am allowed to hold each thing

Who else touches your data

That is the entire list. I do not sell your data, I do not share it with advertisers, and I do not use it to train any model of my own.

Data leaving your country

Fridgey's providers sit outside India, the EEA and the UK, mostly in the United States, so your data is transferred internationally. Where the law requires a safeguard for that transfer, I rely on the standard contractual clauses in each provider's data processing agreement, and on your consent for the health-related fields.

What is stored on your device

Fridgey keeps a small amount of data in your browser's local storage: your sign-in session, your preferences, your recent history and log, your scan count and your subscription state. It is there so the app loads fast and survives a bad connection. None of it is used for advertising or tracking, which is why Fridgey does not show a cookie banner. Signing out clears it, and so does clearing your browser data.

How long I keep things

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

Email shubhhdoespy@gmail.com. I reply within one business day and complete requests within 30 days, or 45 days if you are in Washington State.

If you are in the EEA or the UK and you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In India you can complain to the Data Protection Board once it is operating. Please tell me first, because I can usually fix it faster than they can.

Washington State: consumer health data

If you are in Washington State, the My Health My Data Act applies to part of what Fridgey collects. In plain terms:

Children

Fridgey is for adults. You must be 18 or older to have an account. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and if I find out I have, I delete the account and the data immediately. If you are a parent and think your child has an account, email me and it will be gone the same day.

Security

Sign-in is handled by Supabase, so no password is stored anywhere. Row level security means an account can only read its own row. API keys live on the server and are never sent to the browser. Everything moves over HTTPS.

I am one person, not a security team. If something goes wrong and your data is affected, I will tell you and the relevant regulator without undue delay, and within 72 hours where the law requires it.

If you find a vulnerability, email me. I will not threaten you, I will thank you.

Changes to this policy

If I change something that matters, I will update the date at the top and email account holders. Continuing to use Fridgey after that means the new version applies.
